Established in 1959 and with over 48 years experience in the industry, working on projects for The National Trust, CADW, English Heritage and The Landmark Trust, A1 assessors Alan and Stanley Flood have a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the Heritage sector, they and are Associate Members of The Worshipful Company of Plaisterers, the Lime Forum & the FPDC and hold the CSCS Gold Heritage Card.
COURSE: Heritage Skills Level 3 Solid & Fibrous Plastering.
Course overview This Plastering, Heritage Specialist Apprenticeship Programme, is specifically designed to provide the apprenticeship/trainee with the necessary and fundamental, historical, theoretical, technological knowledge and practical skills to be proficient in working on the conservation, repair and restoration of plaster and render work to traditionally built and historic buildings.
The practical skills and knowledge accrued by the trainee in the Specialist Heritage Apprenticeship Programme will promote high standards of work being carried out on specialist courses of varying duration and quality.
Solid and Fibrous Plaster work is a highly exacting skill used for internal and external plaster work by contractors throughout the construction industry, and its retention is important for the nations historic buildings.
The delivery of this unit is modular combining employer led supervised on-the-job training and formal off-the-job the job training leading to a NVQ assessment. All training will be undertaken by an approved person and the candidate will provide evidence of all education, training and qualifications received.
Entry for this qualification
Those who possess NVQ level 2 preferred minimum entry requirement.
Course Content
The content of each module is designed to enable the candidate to understand the historical development and related theory and technology of the various materials, tools, equipment, as well as the craft techniques employed. This will provide a deeper, contextual understanding and an appreciation of the hazards and safe working practices within this specialised area of work.
Course duration – training locations
Each module will consist of several days off-the-job training, both classroom and workshop based, studying the historical, technological and theoretical knowledge as well as targeted training sessions on the practical aspects.

You will be taught through theory and practical sessions in our lecture room & workshop in Bristol, there will be 4 x 1 week block sessions totalling 20 days and work base assessment.

You have access to a specialist, professionally qualified tutor with a wealth of industry experience based at Bristol through out your course. We provide online support for all student questions and queries when studying away from the training centre.
Grant eligibility.
CITB levy registered, directly employed, only if NOT been on level 3 CITB grant assisted apprenticeship beforehand.
What will it cost?
Our apprenticeship training course costs £2,850.00 + VAT per student.
Our assessment costs £950.00 + VAT per student.
Total cost £3800.00 + VAT, of which you will be entitled to apply for a grant of £3800 per student for levy registered companies.
