![]() New Heritage Skills NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Heritage Roofing Course Posted by Fildes Roofing on 21st September 2011. HERITAGE SKILLS NVQ LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA SPECIALIST APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME (SAP) in ROOFING South Coast Roof Training will be starting a second Heritage Skills NVQ Level 3 Diploma Specialist Apprenticeship Program (SAP) in Roofing beginning on 17th November.
The 30-day course covers aspects of clay peg tiling, random diminishing course slating, stone slating (e.g. swept and laced valleys, curved roof details, eyebrows, decorative elements) and the use of lime mortar and torching techniques, as well as recording a roof (to put it back in its original format), followed up by some on-site visits before final qualification.
Included in the course are field trips to, for example: the Weald & Downland Open Air Museum, West Sussex; Keymer tile factory; Trevillett slate quarry, Cornwall; Goldhill stone quarry, Gloucestershire and local historic towns and buildings.
