Streete Court – Conversion and Extension of 18th Century Building to New Hotel

Posted by DMH Stallard on 24th March 2011.

In January 2011 DMH Stallard Planning secured planning and listed building consent for the restoration, conversion and extension of Streete Court, a former country house to form a 73 bedroom golf hotel with leisure and spa facilities.

Streete Court is a Grade II Listed Building located in the Metropolitan Green Belt at Godstone, Surrey, with an adjoining golf course.

In 2007, DMH Stallard secured the grant of planning permission and listed building consent for restoration of the existing house and construction of a substantial extension to provide a hotel with total of 38 bedrooms, leisure and spa facilities.

Since 2007, DMH Stallard have carried out additional planning work including the preparation and submission of revised applications and planning appeals to increase the size of the proposed hotel to 73 bedrooms in response to deteriorating building conditions and financial viability issues. This included co-ordination and management of a team of expert consultants to address issues of architectural design, heritage and listed building implications, landscape design and visual impact, renewable energy, sustainability and transport. The work included extensive negotiation and consultation with the local planning authority, consultees and interest groups.

Planning permission and listed building consent was issued in January 2011 following referral to the Secretary of State, with the main issues relating to the location of the site within the Metropolitan Green Belt, the financial viability of the scheme, the vacant and deteriorating condition of the building and the scale and design of the proposed hotel accommodation on the Grade II listed building.
