Barley Studio was founded in 1973 by Keith Barley FMGP ACR with the aim of attaining the highest standards in the art and craft of stained glass conservation and creation. Barley Studio is sited just a few miles from the historic city of York, which is a treasure-house for stained glass, a craft which has flourished there from the 13th century right up to the present day. York Minster is internationally acclaimed for the quantity and quality of its medieval glass, but the surrounding parish churches also contain a wonderful collection of stained and painted glass. As stained glass conservators, Barley Studio appreciates the close proximity of this unique heritage and has been responsible for the conservation of medieval glass in the city churches of St. Olave, All Saints' and St. Denys. However the studio does not restrict itself to the medieval period and is fully prepared to work with windows from any region (United Kingdom or overseas) and era (ancient or modern). Our team is thoroughly trained and highly experienced in the range of disciplines needed for the care or creation of windows for cathedrals, churches, museums and stately homes.
