Anthony Temperton worked for over 25 years as a stained glass conservator at York Glaziers Trust, one of the UK’s leading conservation studios, before leaving to work on fanlights and stained glass on a freelance basis.

Our Fanlights are supply only, not fixed, and are copies of Georgian designs built to order in wooden sashes. The sash may be provided by the client or made up by us at the client’s expense. They are made to Francis Underwood’s original construction specifications and are glazed with 3mm drawn glass as standard, or with blown "period" glass at an additional cost.

The strength and rigidity of the Fanlight comes from the armature which is made of brass (not the rust prone wrought iron usually used in the 18th century). A number of other improvements on early practice have been made. Fanlights are supplied painted white on the decorative side (unless otherwise requested) and left unpainted on the putty side, to be finished by the client after fitting.

As well as fanlights, we offer other services including reproductions of Georgian metal skylights, bronze glazing bars for windows and stained glass conservation at the highest level.
