Windows - Metal
Having been at the heart of Haslemere events for over 100 years the Haslemere Hall has a fully equipped theatre seating around 340 in the main auditorium and upper balcony as well as providing a thriving venue for other clubs, events and social activities and events. The building is over 100 years of age and is constantly requiring attention in the form of repairs and renewals. The existing windows were made of steel and single glazed, whilst some of the windows had been replaced around 1970, many of the windows were the original from 1913. Due to the single glazing Haslemere Hall suffered from poor insulation resulting in high heating bills, and excessive condensation, in addition, some of the frames had rusted through, whilst others had mould around the edges. Because of the age and the design of the building it was important that the new windows reflected the original styling and also offered double glazing. Met Therm’s AG210 windows met these needs and requirements perfectly: offering double glazing whilst fitting in with the original styling.

The idea for the design of the outbuilding is to rebuild and redecorate it to its original 1930’s look. The outbuilding had the original Crittall™ style windows in place but over time, condensation had crept in and in turn rusted the original frames. Ms H liked the look of the original steel windows and wanted to replicate the look within the new design. Ms H found Met Therm’s AG210 windows and doors, thermally broken and with their slender sections, offered the perfect replacement she was after. Her architectural friends have all commented on the pleasing aesthetics the new windows and doors have brought to the rebuild, combining contemporary materials with traditional style; slim line framing whilst offering A+10 rating for energy efficiency.

Met Therm’s AG210 windows were chosen for several reasons: the beautiful slimline look of the windows, the range of colours and styles available and the fact that they had an A+ 10 energy rating. Since the installation, the B&B benefits from much more light, as the frames are considerably smaller, there are no leaks or draughts and the windows block out more noise. Countless people comment on the beauty of the windows, including architects and designers who are impressed that this style of metal window exists - and some airfield enthusiasts can't believe they are not the originals.

Reconfiguring the layout of a downstairs room provided the perfect opportunity for Mrs W to replace her existing doors - but her requirements were specific: they must be stylish yet functional. Met Therm Windows had the solution. Mrs W was drawn to a black steel design and opted for a slimline double door which featured horizontal detailing. The door also had welded bars with a traditional brushed brass finished handle, lock and face bolts. Mrs W was particularly taken by lock box as well as the black steel design, which she intends to co-ordinate with new furniture.
|Title:||Renovation Using Metal Window Replacements|
The original Crittall™ windows were installed during the build of the house, and over the years the windows had begun to warp which made the windows hard to open and even harder to shut, resulting in poor insulation and during a cold winter this led to a rise in heating bills Met Therm Windows were able to produce a traditional style metal window with grade A+ for thermal performance; meeting the requirement of having the “quality of new but with the original look and feel”. The owners were particularly taken by the fully working welded hinges, which were traditional features on their Crittall™ windows. In addition, the Dual colour frames – where frames are painted one colour inside and a different colour on the outside, enabled the owners to match interior décor.
